Ladakh, India Drone Video
Ladakh is a mountainous region in the disputed northwest Jammu and Kashmir area in north India. It’s an area, which is known as the Trans-Himalaya. Lonely Planet describes Ladakh as follows;
Spectacularly jagged, arid mountains enfold this magical Buddhist ex-kingdom. Picture perfect gompas (Tibetan Buddhist monasteries) dramatically crown rocky outcrops next to fluttering prayer flags and whitewashed stupas (a dome shaped building erected as a Buddhist shrine), while prayer wheels spun clockwise release merit making mantras. It’s a little corner of Tibet marooned in the farthest reaches of India.
This video was filmed with a DJI Inspire 1 and you will have to agree this aerial footage is of exceptional quality.
Taj Mahal 4k Drone Footage
This 4k drone footage of the Taj Mahal in Agra, India is beautiful. It is filmed at a distance so as not to intrude over this magnificent holy site.
UNESCO describe the Taj Mahal as follows;
The Taj Mahal is an immense mausoleum of white marble, built in Agra between 1631 and 1648 by order of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife. The Taj Mahal is the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage.
This terrific drone video of the Taj Mahal was filmed with the DJI Mavic Pro drone. The quality of this drone video of the Taj Mahal is absolutely stunning.
The Mavic Pro has tremendous flight and gimbal stabilization along with a 4k camera. It flies super smooth. The Mavic Pro has terrific intelligent flight modes and tremendous range of camera settings so you capture the best video in all lighting conditions.
Another great feature of the DJI Mavic Pro drone is the abundance of parts, accessories, upgrades and camera filters available. Using camera filters is a great way to bring your aerial filming to the next level. Here is a excellent article on how to choose the correct aerial camera filter.
Hampi, India Drone Video
Hampi is one of the finest historical sites of the ancient world. It was the initial capital city of famous historical Vijayanagara Empire located on the bank of Tungabhadra River about 6.8 miles (11 km) away from Hospet City.
Hampi is a small location and it is totally bounded by mountains (Anjaneya, Malyavanta and Matanga Hills).
Hampi, also referred to as the Group of Monuments at Hampi.
It is believed by Hindus that Hampi was a kingdom of Monkeys (according to the Ramayana) before Vijayanagara Empire in pre-ancient age (around 1 CE) when the city was known as Kishkindha.
It is hard to believe that this drone footage of Hampi was filmed way back in 2015 with a DJI Phantom 2 Vision +, which was a top drone at that time. The quality of this footage of Hampi is quite remarkable with an older drone.
In just a few years, drone technology and innovation has moved on greatly since 2015. I would love to see Hampi filmed again with the latest DJI Mavic 2 or DJI Inspire 2 drones, which are more advanced than the DJI Phantom 2 Vision+.
Enjoy this drone footage of Hampi.
Rishikesh, India Drone Footage
This next fantastic top drone video of India comes from Rishikesh, which is in the state of Uttarakhand. This is a wonderful place on the Ganges (Gangа) river in the foothills of the Himalayas.
Rishikesh is also known as the Yoga Capital and the birthplace of Yoga so it must be a great place to find your inner peace.
In fact, Rishikesh is popular around the world for its yoga ashrams. It was made famous by the Beatles who stayed in Maharishi Mahesh Yogi ashram (now Beatles ashram) in the 1960’s.
This 4k drone video of Beatles ashram was filmed using a DJI Phantom 4 and captures the views and scenery of Rishikesh spectacularly.
The Phantom 4 Pro drones is perhaps the best value drone on the market. It flies super stable, has a 4k camera and plenty of camera settings. It has more camera settings that the later drones to the market.
The Phantom 4 Pro also has terrific autonomous flight modes, which allow the pilot to concentrate on filming.
Howrah And Kolkata India Drone Video
Howrah or Haora is a metropolitan city and a municipal corporation of Howrah district in the Indian state of West Bengal.
It is an important transportation hub of West Bengal and a major gateway for Kolkata which is across the Hooghly River.
Howrah is Kolkata’s twin city in the Indian state of West Bengal. However, what makes Howrah different, despite being an industrial town is the sheer romance that’s in the city’s air and mood.
Howrah is connected to Kolkata by four bridges, namely Vivekananda, Vidyasagar, Nivedita and the most popular Howrah bridge. A walk along any one of these bridges is amazing and the views of the river Ganga, the dhows and ships floating in it are breathtaking.
The website Trans India Travels lists some great sites to visit in Howrah and Kolkata as follows;
- Howrah Bridge with a view of the magnificent Ganges underneath.
- Belur Math is a stunning temple dedicated to the famous Swami Vivekananda of Bengal and his undying devotion to Ramakrishna, Devi Sarada and the Goddess Kali.
- Acharya Jagdish Chandra Bose Botanic Garden.
- Vidyasagar Setu Bridge which is just magnificent and a top tourist spot.
- Andul Rajbari heritage site.
- Jorasanko Thakurbari Mansion.
- Park Street.
- Indian Museum in Kolkata (largest and oldest in India).
- Victoria Memorial.
- Birla Temple.
- Marble Palace Mansion.
This video was shot on a foggy morning so the pilot did a great job filming. It is hard to fly and film in fog and you could easily lose video transmission to your drone.
Enjoy this excellent video of Kolkota.
This next video is shot in the small community of Domjur, Howrah. It shows off the beautiful landscape. The color in this video is so rich and vivid. This drone pilot really knows his camera settings and you can see he had great fun filming this video.
India Showreel 4k Drone Footage
This excellent drone video of India was filmed over a 3 week period and covers the following locations; New and old Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Rishikesk, the Ganges river and the Chopta Valley. The mountain top temple was on Mount Chandrashila.
It’s hard to believe that this drone video was filmed back in 2015. It was filmed with the DJI Phantom 2 quadcopter and a GoPro Hero 4 camera over 3 weeks. Quite a few aerial films from 2015 and before had barrel fisheye distortion.
Barrel distortion is common with using wide angle lenses because the field of view of the lens is much wider than the size of the image sensor. The field of view needs to be squeezed to fit, resulting in straight lines being visibly curved inwards and especially the outer edges of the frame. The straight lines are curved inwards in the shape of a barrel.
You can learn more on how to remove barrel fisheye from your videos here.
There is a little of this barrel distortion in the below video but you would hardly notice it. The pilot knows how to film very well.
The latest 4k drones have a different lens and field of view so they don’t have this fisheye effect.
